#52snapshots–Weeks 51-52

This is the final week of my year-long exploration into #52snapshots. In the 52 weeks of 2021, I’ve written 23 essays, sent out nine, and saw the publication of three. I have much revision to do in 2022. Because these essays are genealogical in nature, I have to find a way to get more of “me” into them.

After a year of drafting and revising these snapshots, I have to say I gained deep insights into my ancestors, their choices and challenges. I also began to understand my own motivations to explore my ancestry beyond the genealogical research level.

For those of you so inclined, Creative Nonfiction is once again giving a webinar on using 52 Snapshots as a memoir starter kit. The session will take place on Wednesday, January 5, at 2pm ET.
