#52snapshots 2022 | Week 25 — The Body

I’m now a week behind in writing these memoir vignettes. So while this is technically Week 26, I’m offering up Week 25 here today. The prompt calls for writing about the body and I chose to write about my mother’s make-up routine and how my father cleaned up so nicely for special occasions. I can still smell his Ivory Soap and Barbasol shaving cream. I can still see my mother in the downstairs powder room using the vanity’s overhead fluorescent lighting to help her see better. She truly believed in face powder and rouge and never went outside without lipstick, perhaps a product of her generation.
